Ma & Pa Training Meetings

 

Typically only 3 hours of training is needed to supplement the Ma/Pa Training Manual.  The meetings are as follows:

 

Orientation (Instructed by Stake Trek Specialists): 

  1. Covers how to be a Ma/Pa – provide each ma/pa couple with their own training manual

  2. Discuss trek route - maps

  3. Basic Trek Itinerary (don’t give away surprises)

  4. FAQs

 

Medial Training (Instructed by Trek Medial Team):

  1. Covers what to include in Ma/Pa first aid kit

  2. Water/Dehydration

  3. Food

  4. Trail sickness

  5. Blisters

  6. Insects

  7. Lightning

  8. Hypothermia

  9. Rain

  10. Fire Safety

Food Preparation (Instructed by Trek Food Committee)

  1. Covers Menu and Meals

  2. How, when & where food will be distributed

Ma/Pa Temple Night

Everyone involved as a trek leader should attend a temple session prior to the trek, in the spirit of prayer and preparation.  Doing so makes a big difference in the overall preparation and spirit of the trek itself.

Prep Tip:

Start preparing for the trek NOW by taking daily walks.  Start by walking 15 minutes 3 times a week.  After a month, increase your walks to 30 minutes 3 times per week.  Be sure to use the "Monthly Events" Calendar as your guide.  For tips on preventing blisters, CLICK HERE
