YOUTH
LEADERS:

Youth Leaders, whether you
are going on the Trek as a Ma, a Pa, an Aunt, an
Uncle, Support Member or even if you're not going at
all, you play an important role in Trek
2007.
Here is a list of some essential
tasks which all Youth Leaders should assist with:
Youth Registration
- a Ward Trek Coordinator has been called from your
ward to manage the trek registration process.
Ask your Coordinator how you can assist them in
getting the Youth and Adults registered for the Trek.
Remind the Youth to get their registration forms
submitted promptly (due by Feb 28). Help the Youth to
register online.

Prepare the Youth
Physically - Prompt, encourage and remind the
Youth to get out there and condition themselves for
the trek. They need to start walking at least 3
times a week. They must be able to walk at least
4 miles a day by Trek time. If they don't
start walking now, not only will they fatigue easily,
but they will get blisters.

familiar with the
"Monthly Events" calendar to know exactly what
physical preparation assignments the youth
should be working on during each month.
Trek Clothing - A
Ward Trek Clothing Specialist has been called from
your ward to help the Youth get all of their Pioneer
clothing together. As a ward leader, you should
look at your Mutual activity calendar and arrange
times for possible sewing workshops, where the youth
can make some of their clothes. The girls will
need to make bonnets, aprons, skirts and probably
pantaloons. The boys will have an easier time
finding their clothes, since basically all they need
is a hat, suspenders, long sleeve shirts, and loose
fitting earth tone pants.

Family History - A
Ward Trek Family History Specialist has been called
form your ward to help the Youth find an ancestor to
take to the temple for baptisms. As a ward
leader, you should look at your Mutual activity
calendar and arrange times when you can take the youth
the the family history center, where they can find an
ancestor who has not been baptized. Become
familiar with the
"Monthly Events" calendar to know exactly what
family history assignments the youth should be working
on during each month.

Activate
- Encourage lesser active youth to Trek with us!
Actively publicize this important event within your
ward. Encourage the youth to reach out to their less
active friends and neighbors. Realize that this
is one of those rare 'once in a lifetime' 'life
changing' events which no one will want to miss.
